Deumadi is located on the foothills of the Annapurna Range, under the shadow of Thulakot. We are towered over by the full range of the mountain peaks including Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, and more. Nestled in this rural community of Pokhara, the Retreat offers a restaurant to serve fresh and organic meals, accommodations for an overnight stay in three rooms with attached bathrooms, and a campground. The serene and natural surroundings make the space ideal for outdoor meditation, yoga, or simply enjoying time in solitude appreciating the beauty of nature and environment.

Our Vision (Mission of GCC)

GCC Resort Pvt. Ltd. came into existence in 2017 with three friends agreeing to create a Retreat for Conscience. GCC is the abbreviation of Global Citizens for Conscience hoping the space they invest in, will give the visitors an opportunity to understand nature and community. Therefore, GCC Retreat for Conscience in Deumadi is the idea of being part of nature and community. This resort has been designed, planned, and literally hand-crafted with the vision of being born from the womb of Mother Nature. Thanks to our Arch. Babu Ram Bhandari for designing and constructing our structure respecting the nature and environment to reach our goal of regenerating the ecosystem and biodiversity. Our structures and daily operation of the resort are to count our carbon emissions and protect nature, community, and heritage. This is a minimal effort but we are confident our visitors and customers will experience the difference and take back the message of  “Small is Beautiful and Less is More”.

GCC Retreat from the Architect’s Eyes

Retreat in the lap of a panoramic mountain and on top of god and goddess land, obviously a great achievement. Site selection for the construction of a global retreat in North West sloped land with a maximum altitude of 1400ft, is ideally perfect. Our objective is to create a destination that is blended with nature. Our buildings are not built but are grown from the ground itself. Building Identity is given to Nepalese Vernacular Architecture. Construction materials are locally available adobe materials. Stone masonry with red mud mortar is used for strength and thermal comfort. Out interior is of bamboo and timber available nearby the site. Rooms and other functional spaces are thermally comfortable.

Arc. Babu Ram Bhandari
Project Director

There is a 2-degree temperature difference in the internal and external environment. It’s due to construction technology and due to materials used in construction. 18-inch thick stone wall with red mud mortar is the perfect combination for thermal insulation to achieve thermal comfort. We do not use any Air conditioning or Electric fan in the room all around the year. Bamboo trusses and thatch roofs with sand in which concept also play a vital role in thermal comfort. We used plain metal sheets for rain protection. Flooring with the natural stone slab with realistic shape and texture speaks of natural bonding. We genuinely consider global warming and environmental hazard flourishing around the globe. We are very conscious to use any material in our construction. We will not just speak, we are the doers to control global warming. We are very environmentally friendly.

We protect our plants even if they are on our plinth and give them shape as per our functions. Our natural landscape and greenery are the main assets of our retreat. Those who are naturally friendly and love natural ecosystems are our valued targets. Luxury and resorty character are very far from our ambiance. Rugged natural land, panoramic  Annapurna and Machhapuchhre range, Sunrise and Sunset view, and Natural Edible Landscape welcome our visitors and provide them spiritual happiness and satisfaction. Our building walls are hand-crafted. Each piece of stone used in our building is a hand chisel. Every visitor can feel that labor in our walls. Edible Landscape around our retreat provides fresh and organic supplements to our guests. Building form with Nepalese Architecture and eco-friendly construction with natural comfort is our sole objective of retreat evolution.
